Hi Pete,
Thanks for the suggestion! I like the idea of the dits. It certainly would indicate an impending message. I think I'll just have to add that! :)
With good ideas like this, I can see this will be an ongoing development for a while. :)
Tnx, 73 Tom

Hi, Tom.
Instead of dead air, you might consider twenty or thirty dits across those 60 seconds. At only 2 or 3 seconds apart, the duty cycle is still extremely low, and captures a listeners attention that a message is coming he might otherwise miss altogether during a long, silent pause and tune away.
At a recommended 13wpm +/-, you should easily get a few V’s, your call, and 6-digit grid square and power level, etc. in well under 30 seconds.
Good luck! A 6m beacon in Idaho will be useful. Oh, and order QSL Cards and start a dedicated logbook because the reports WILL be coming in. Mine’s been operating on 50.075 @ only 2½W for 30+ years and I’ve logged thousands of reports. (Best DX is still JA.) Vy 73 es GL!

During my testing upon long key downs, it got pretty warm, so that's why I added the standby delay.I'm thinking about maybe using a micor PA as an amp to get it up to 30 watts. If I get that going, I'll certainly have an overkill heat sink with a sizable fan to help. And of course reduce the exciters power level which will help cool also.
> My current situation is that the system is in a shed with no extra cooling, so I have to be careful about the ambient heat. With the shed ambient temp at 88, the xmitt temp is 94, with a fan on the final heat sink. Tomorrow during the heat of the day, I'll keep an eye on it all.
