Hi Bill,
I'm using the 60 seconds as a 'no transmit', standby time. To help cool down the final heat sink. Since you mention it, I can see the value in a carrier for propagation observation. During my testing upon long key downs, it got pretty warm, so that's why I added the standby delay.I'm thinking about maybe using a micor PA as an amp to get it up to 30 watts. If I get that going, I'll certainly have an overkill heat sink with a sizable fan to help. And of course reduce the exciters power level which will help cool also.
My current situation is that the system is in a shed with no extra cooling, so I have to be careful about the ambient heat. With the shed ambient temp at 88, the xmitt temp is 94, with a fan on the final heat sink. Tomorrow during the heat of the day, I'll keep an eye on it all.

Hi Tom,Congratulations getting the beacon up. I'll add it to my list and listen for it. A question. Is the "60 delay" dead air or a carrier. I would hope a carrier.Regards...Bill - N6GHz

Hello All,
Idaho, (Boise), now has its first 6 meter beacon!
DN13up. 50.072 mhz. 6 watts to a squalo antenna. If I find an inexpensive, (kit), amp, I might increase the power.
It transmits a 70 second message then a 60 second delay.
I converted a Regency HR-6 rig, using an SiT8008B programmable oscillator instead of a crazy expensive crystal!
