[SixClub] PSK31

6m PSK freq has been 50.290 for a long time. If enough are on during openings they may work up a KHz or so but usually not needed.  I worked a bunch while active.  JT65 will be at 50.276 dial freq.  The 'sub' mode used on 6m is JT65A.  6m EME'ers, particularly dxpeditions, will normally be around 50.190
Another good resource is https://www.pskreporter.info/pskmap.html
Like other spot sights you can set band, mode, time period, etc.

I asked around and was given link to a skimmer info site
pskreporter.info
It is an interesting tool.
it puts the information from  a number skimmers looking for PSK31
and other digital modes including CW RTTY JT67

It indicated that there is JT65 on frequency's around 50.277
dose not look like there is much psk31 activiyy on 6 meters at the moment.

Some high gain long boom beams designed for 100-125 will be really
fussy about 277

On HF the mantra is antenna height in wavelengths, but what is it on six?

I've always found as high as possible and found "in this location" that
115 feet was outstanding for my 7L C3i with a boom length just inches
shy of 30 feet.

What brought this up was at Field Day the 6-meter station had their
antenna quite low, but they were using the same formulas the others were
using for tribanders and 40 meters which put them well below the tops of
nearby trees. I didn't include 75 or 160 because there they had to
settle for practical heights rather than optimal for the distances to be
worked.

On another note:  I've seen quite a few Sporadic E openings state side
and transoceanic lately. Today  (7/22/16) there has been a substantial
opening across the mid West and central US

I have called CQ on PSK-31 at various 6 meter frequencies during most of the recent E-Skip openings. I have used low power & high power, omnidirectional & yagi, around 50.250 & up & also 50.170 --

I have yet to get a reply to my PSK CQ's!

I have not yet (ever!) used WSJT on any band. Just not familiar with that software yet.

You can call CQ until you are blue in the face with no results if no one is copying your PSK/digital signal! Once I switch back to SSB or CW, I get lots of replies.

Solution -- we need to establish a common frequency/calling freq. for PSK on 6 & use the digital modes whenever possible.

Any RTTY on 6??

I've been on 6 since 1975 -- 102 DX & 750 grids -- still hoping for a PSK QSO!

OK !

here is MY 2 cents worth.
Like you I tried working people on psk & was a bit more successful. however.
the ARRL in its infinite wisdom does not recognize VHF MODES just grid
squares. I feel this is a Tragic situation. but they do NOT seem to care at
all.

Lets say that you have a SDR or panadapter that has a 20 KHz bandwidth.
You are parked where you can monitor the display for both .110 and .125 SSB

You will never see or hear any digital modes.
