I sat back and watched as long as I could! While I respect everyones right to choose the energy source they feel most comfortable with I feel that propane(aka LP gas) and natural gas are getting a bum rap in this thread. I spent many years in the propane gas business as an installer/service tech and bulk driver. I certified 14 ways from Sunday in LP and maintained the large bulk plant also. In roughly 15 years I never saw one instance of questionable safety with propane when the system was installed and maintained properly. The only propane related fire that ocurred with any of my systems involved a couple of house fires, one that was due to electrical wiring problems in the house, the other started with a wood stove fire. We had one close call that occured when a homeowner tried to splice into the propane supply line and hook up his homemade bar-b-que pit and failed to install a low pressure regulator and did not leak-check his fittings. Those were three times in 15 years out of almost 3500 installations we had.
I maintain that propane and natural gas is as safe as any other fuel source, including electricity.
