I do not believe that he did not intend to steal much more credit
than due for promotion of what was becoming the internet, with
or without him - and which was promoted by others - not only him.

This has drifted well-off list purpose so I won't comment further
beyond what I believe to be a valuable clarification ...

It is a nice puff-piece on Snopes. It reads like it was written
by a Gore staffer, and it brushes aside Al Gore's chronic history
of self-promotion which often bordered on fraud.

Witness not only the massive global warming fraud which has made
him rich and has cost working people (of which he has never been
one) billions in wasted expenditures - and during which "crisis"
he traveled around in private jets and SUV motorcades (apparently
carbon emissions were only a problem if generated by other people).

Or his response when caught breaking the law by using Federal
facilities to fund-raise for his campaign "There is no
controlling legal authority" -- which is sleazy legalese for
"I am as guilty as sin but someone found a loophole - so
nanny-nanny-noo-noo I don't care about the law or about you."

Fortunately Gore has been rendered all-but irrelevant and without
influence; Unfortunately, not until after he did terrible harm to
many national economies, industries, and to individual freedom.

>> And don't forget, Gore also invented the Internet!
> I'm not one of Gore's supporters, but computers are my profession,
> CS is my degreed field, and that statement has always bothered me.
