Makes sense really... When it comes to the design, construction, and
sales...the 6-meter amp has the same expensive components as the HF
amp. IOW the PS (transformer), control circuits, metering, and
protection circuits.
What they don't have is a band switch, or a "tapped" (multi band input
and output). Many HF amps don't have a tuned input so there is even
less difference.
With the really big 6-meter amps that will run the legal limit, digital
key down, or contesting the difference between HF and 6-meter amps runs
between $500 and $1000 but we are looking at amps costing in the
neighborhood of $4,000. Compare the prices of the manual tune Alpha, or
Emtron for 6-meters with their HF counterparts.
