I thought I remembered being told that many years ago - good to have
the reminder - not that I intend to go looking for twisters!

I like that idea as well.  I have been trying to find someone to make
me a two-piece base for my Rohn-clone tower.  The legs slide together
like Rohn but rather than bolts through the legs it has 'loops' on the 
sides (at the connecting point) through which long bolts go (parallel
with the legs).

What I envision is a 'L' plate that I can lay on the ground and bolt
to the steel shipping container and a second plate on top of the flat it 
that is hinged.

I can then use the side of the steel container as the guide when
raising and lowering the tower.  (I am only planning a 30' tower.)
