Now if you want a bargain there was an Icom 7800 on e-bay a couple days
ago with a starting bid IIRC of $100 and no reserve. The thing is
basically new. It's a case of some one purchasing a rig and then having
a job change to a new location some 800 or so, miles away.
BTW I really don't expect to see it go cheap.<sigh>
I just put my new rig into the 4-Runner... in the form of new 17" tires,
replace the rear axle bearings, seals, brakes, and have the drums
turned. The old tires looked great until you looked at them straight
on. The tread was way deeper than when they were4 new, but the bottoms
of the groves appeared to have cord showing. They were nigh onto 8 or 9
years old and dying of old age, rather than lots of miles.

You *might* find a used Icom or Kenwood from around the time they first
started including 6-meters for a reasonable price.
The Icom 706 and Yaesu 897Ds have been going in the $500-$800 range. Of
course you can get a new 897D for not much more than that. I purchased
one new early one for about that and I'm going to pedal it once I get
the CW portion fixed. The keyer works, but one of the lines from the
key does not...I'm assuming it's the interface chip. It's not the
greatest rig and for a few hundred dollars more the Icom 7000 is far
superior with a much better receiver that has an outstanding noise blanker.
Unfortunately both the 897D and the Icom 7000 are very small rigs (great
for mobile) that require multiple menus to change modes and power
levels. IOW Keep the manual handy! <:-))
