This is where I read about the 4-1000 6M amp.
It was apparently published in 73 Magazine in the mid-80's

The "Blockbuster for 50 MHz" amp with the 4-1000 is one I still use on
six meters, after 20 years. It provides about a kilowatt output with 10W
PEP drive power (not a typo, really 10 Watts), because it's not grounded
grid, it's grid-driven. That was intended to be a high gain amplifier
because at the time I had a low-powered exciter and didn't want to build
an intermediate power amplifier.
Of course, its power supply weighs 140 lbs, but that's another issue.
