Building on the mobile beam idea ... I stumbled upon
this http://www.hamuniverse.com/K4mmg2and6meter.html
Variables:
1. The target vehicle is a full-size van.
2. The metal body of the back of the van serves as an
untuned Reflector.
3. The Driven Element is set 32" off the back of the
van near to roof level.
4. The Driven Element is approx. 56" (center-fed coax
a little like a folded dipole, but not a fd).
5. Support for the DE could be three bamboo or fiberglass
fishing rods extending from the roofline, the
middle one also supporting the coax feedline.
6. A Director could be added but would create serious
risks for damage when backing-up, could draw the
attention of law enforcement for extending too far
beyond the length of the van, and would likely
require a support connected to the trailer hitch.
(Note: If a small trailer or aluminum wheelchair
platform were connected to the trailer hitch that
might negate the legal concern about "too long" -
but remembering it is there so-as to not damage
it would remain a challenge!)
WDYT?
