I would think a simpler solution would be a six meter dipole in the
horizomtal plane. It already has 3db gain over a single halo, but then
you loose the advantage of omni directional ( although lower gain ) of
the halo.
Taling this futher, if you could mount a six meter beam facing forward
along the front-to-rear axis of the car, ( much like grid square
rovers do ) then as long as you were facing the other station, things
would be great.
Unfortunatly, roads seldom cooperate.
