You're right on the fact about multiband rig being a better buy in the long run but anything with 6M commands a premium price these days.

I don't understand the prices on mono-band rigs.
I can get an Alinco DX-70TH for under $450. and a
Yaesu FT-857D for $550. - $600. Why would I pay so
much for a mono-band rig?
Is the performance really that much better?
I am not criticizing his price or him, this may be
a fair price for the performance, I am really curious.
