I have to go along with the "one of" although nothing like some of the
openings we had back at the height of the last sunspot cycle. I have
days in the log where the band was open world wide. OTOH I have almost
as many DX contacts from the contest as I did back then, but those were
not contest days so it's really a poor comparison.
Unfortunately my operating was strongly curtailed by antenna work, and
yard work. In the early 2000's I could spend half a day climbing and
then spend the rest of the day and most of the night chasing DX. Being
nearly 10 years older, I'm now at an age where my body just won't put up
with that. OTOH my ambition hasn't gotten any worse, but it was pretty
poor even when I was a teenager. <:-))
I've heard more so far this July than last year, but that's not really
saying much. Last year was really bad and it was only dismal this year.
