Here's a thought..........
Run DM780 software and set the RSID to "ON".
Set the DM780 to "beacon" every minute or so, and then turn up the speakers
on your normal ( not the PSK card ) soundcard.

When DM780 detects a signal running RSID, it will voice announce the  
mode and frequency over your speakers  ( or remote speakers in the  
kitchen or garage )
and let you know the band is starting to open without having to  
monitor endless static.
