A 108 inch whip is a 1/2wave on 6...resonant but not 50ohms.....you either
need a matching network to match to the 50 ohm coax or cut the whip to 54in
and you're better off.

and the cophased hype of the 70  CB antennas was another thing.....you never
really got a decent pattern as to do so, the elements needed to be 1/4 or
1/2 wave spaced..on 27MHz, that is 9 or 18 feet! The average vehicle is not
that wide....the "cophased" whips probably had a terrible pattern...never
what it should be (figure 8 off the front and back)
