Actually, I know a Ham in NH who is an aggressive
contester on 2M & up and recall that he did something
like that as well -- in his case to a 2m beam.

Someone had documented a more effective spacing for
the purpose -- something to do with how wide or
narrow you want the focal point to be I think.
