Boy I wish we had the ability to leave off PL around here... No PL equals
tied up repeater from interference. The band is too crowded, we had to shut
down a VHF repeater and replace it with a UHF after fighting interference
problems despite being coordinated, the battle just wasn’t worth it anymore.
Likewise being mobile if you don't have tone squelch on all you hear is
interference, despite how good the receiver and intermod rejection is, for
some reason the local gas station and a few other business's generate
interference when your by them or parked nearby. The only gas station
generates a nice S9+ signal on a frequency I have in memory, and its only
that one memory, so I don't know if its mixing, a harmonic, or whats going
on.
None of the radios I have owned have the split tone option I know that,
FT8900, FT8800, FT7800, VX150, VX7R, FT60R, FT847, FT2800, FT2400, FT2500...
Yep a Yaesu fan here... LOL
