In answer to your questions below:

The Syntor will cover 10 and 6 quite well and with NO problems; yes the
parts will eventually start to get hard to replace...with the mutli System
90 head, you can have a lot of channels programmed...Never dealt with the
Kenwood BUT it probably WONT cover 29-54 like the Motorola will...and both
are limited to a max number of channels..
HOWEVER, Motorola software to reprogram is a BEAR to get ahold of...a friend
of mine has two of them...and we have looked trying to find someone who can
reprogram the modules to the freqs he wants..

PERSONALLY, I suggest getting two Midland Syntech IIs..one on 10 (an A Range
70-05xxA model) and one for 6 (70-05xxC model)....that OR an XTR on 10 and
the STII on 6 (XTR does 22 or 99 channel which is overkill on 10 FM; the
STII does 320 channels!!!)..EASIER to program (Software is in public domain)
and there is a lot of neat things you can do...PLUS the NOISE BLANKER in the
Midlands runs rings around the Motorola's "Extender"....and I love the built
in optional crossband rptr in the STII...I have several that crossband to
UHF....and some with VHF crossband (2w synthesized HTs in the crossband
package...and its INSIDE the main radio...overall MUCH smaller than a
Syntor)

Still looking for the SS32s...found two TS32...but that's too big for your
needs...I THINK I know where the Selectone encoders are...which would be a
perfect fit in an HT...Let ya know Monday...my fuel pump went out today on
my Blazer and I have to drop the gas tank to replace it..ARG there goes
another $300 I wanted to spend on radios!

Thank the Good Lord that electrons do not transfer odors!

If by Forum you mean this list then I have one that I have
raised on another 6M forum ...

As there any reason to prefer the Motorola Syntor 9000
VHF Low Band 28-54 MHz,100 Watt Model #T99VX+006W or
the Kenwood TK-6110-K2 35-50mhz?

Questions: Are their proprietary parts in the Motorola that
given its age may fail and be unobtanium? Is the software to
reprogram the Motorola any more readily available than the
Kenwood? Has anyone successfully reprogrammed and tweaked
the Kenwood for both 6 & 10M?
