The X9K is easier to manage and program software wise, plus the software is
available and covers the entire ham band. It's one of those "it's out
there" sort of deals.. You know what i mean...
I'm not knocking the Kenwood, i have dealt with them and they work pretty
good too, but the programming is more complex then just hooking up a
computer and RIB. The programming interface for them are hard to find at
best, i have take the Eproms out of some of the older Kenwoods and made new
ones to program them as well though.
The noise blanker on the Motorola X9K is far better than other lowband
radios i have dealt with. And it puts out pretty consistent power across
the ham bands so no problem there. I used to have a lowband X9K in the
stack in the mobile, fed it to a Hustler 54" mast with a 10m resonator on
top, made a really good 6/10m FM setup in the mobile, and 100W+.

Scott
