Or every time I purchase a firearm.
I'm glad to see the RC dropped that original background check.  They 
actually (according to one ARRL letter) did lifestyle checks. No not 
that kind <:-)),  but whether you were in their estimation living beyond 
your means. In today's society that's over half the population.

In Michigan that doesn't mean much.  They have one of those idiotic 
"zero tolerance" policies so the teen ager who got a bit foolish is 
listed right along  with the true predators  with no distinction made.  
For that matter there was a girl from a nearby university on a  nature 
hike  in relatively remote woods  way up near the top of the state.  
Nature called, she hid behind a bush, some one spotted and reported 
her.  She is now on the register as an offender. (That story was in the 
local newspaper a year or two back). They've made that law so inclusive 
they've removed the true meaning and ruined a lot of kids lives.

That's not, or wasn't the problem with the original background checks. 
They were far too invasive and inclusive.
