[SixClub] ARRL bashing

Joey,

I don't subscribe to LOTW, but I do to eQSL...

But I don't have any beef with the ARRL having paid employees. Our hobby
would be a lot less "deep" without some professionals paying attention to
it. LOTW has integrity - which is what the old paper QSL system has. "If
you are clever you can beat any system." What are you saying, Joey? That
LOTW doesn't have integrity? I believe it has more than eQSL. How exactly
does it not have integrity?

eQSL does not have the same level of integrity - but they both serve a
different portion of the amateur radio market. Do I think that LOTW has a
positive cash flow? Yes... but do I think they have a paid programmer doing
the work? Yes. Am I glad LOTW is there - yes, someday I probably will
subscribe - because getting an LOTW award means more than eQSL.

Why is there such opposition to the ARRL being healthy financially and
introducing an electronic QSL product with integrity features that no one
has? Ah, maybe because it costs something? Then just vote with your
wallet. But can we please not turn this discussion into an ARRL bash?

Randy, N0LD

Hold on one at a time,
are you saying there are no paid employees at the ARRL ? and LOTW, is
there because if they let in lets say " E QSL " for instance then they
couldn't control it, I understand that nothing is free in life,
BUT,......... qsl cards are not Plutonium, and if you are clever you can
beat any system, LOTW
is to complicated, and unnecessary. Except that it allows the ARRL to
maintain control.
and whats up with the Bricks, any of you buy into that ?

                      Joey
PS I should be keeping my mouth shut, its not my wish to run people off the

reflector
the purpose of the Poll is just to see where the members are, not my
personal opnions.
