Hello,
I wrote this to the digi guys in response to the
answer they gave you.
John,
Your remark to Bruce about band use are discourteous
at best, not with the etiquette normally found in this
band. If you have seen the band plan, there is not
much room to work with. From 52 Mhz and up there is
the FM band which hasn't the same propagation
charasteristics as the lower part of the band, and is
full of repeaters and simplex users, so AM use is near
to imposible. 50.4 mHz is the international AM voice
frequency. If you know anything about propagation,
even with little power you can wreak havoc on an AM
reception thousands of miles away, and this is more so
with digital modes. Also, if you know something about
antennas, most beam antennas have a limited BW, most
have 1000 khz, so moving is not easy without retuning,
and we all know that inline antenna tuner performance
is questionable at best. For attitudes like this, the
FCC now have limited the BW on many bands, when a
bunch of "experimenters" like you, tried to expand the
BW use for the sake of "hiFi" sounding phone
emissions, and telling bonafide users "you do not own
the band". Get my drift?
We are not against experimenting, but bulldozering
your needs over the needs of others without prior
consultation with the band users on the appropriate
channels is unethical, at best.
Continue with your experiments if you wish, there is
always ITU, and once this fact is known, you will hear
complains all over.
Thanks for taking the time to read this. You are
welcome on 50.4 to the various nets in there to expose
your needs and reach agreements. Once you know there
are legitimate users in a segment and you ignore them,
it could be taken as malicious interference.
Take care,
