Even a 3L @ 25-30' will produce good results

I have to slightly disagree here. IMHO, the Comet GP-15,  Diamond X2000A & 
X3200A, and MFJ 1538 are poor excuses for a vertical on 6 meters.  OTOH the 
Diamond DPGH62 is an excellent choice.
