That is true, I am sorry I quoted from memory and that is getting old. L. B. Cebik, W4RNL in an issue of QST some time back, stated some 1296 gain measurements with rhombics the best actual gain measured was 20DB over a dipole.
You should be able to beat that at 6 meters as I believe the surface resistance 1296 mhz would be greater than at 6 meters. I could be wrong. Still it would be hard to obtain 20 db with beams.
