Ok, once more I missed a band opening. I started yesterday at 9:30am
EST, all day I called CQ. I eat dinner just before the storm and I get
back to my PC and what do I see, Information pointing me to believe
there is an opening. So I watched telnet for a few hours as contacts
were being made, I could do nothing put look out to the lake and watch
the lighting. I did not dare take my portable set up out in that.
However; since I got my first ever QSL cards in the mail from the
printer, I did finish all that have built up for the past 2 months. So
if you are waiting for a QSL from me (KB3LZV) its on its way.
So the real question behind the e-mail. I have been on vacation since
the 8/1 in there was one band opening that I know of last week. However
in my quest to find one I watch the many website that people have helped
me find and they have been very useful. But what I can understand is
why 6 meters in Europe is all ways hopping with 2000km+ contacts. And I
can get one in a blue moon.
Also I was wondering, is there a place in book or Internet land that
will explain the complicated workings of 6 meter. Like how the weather
on earth and in space effects the band, how you know if you have a hop
or 2 hop. I know this my sound like dumb question that I should already
know but for some reason, I am very confused about this. I don't know I
guess I just feel there should be some way to have an understanding of
the band so that if I wake up and the stars are in line I know I should
call out sick to work. No just kidding. Well I think you know what I
am saying.
Well thanks in advance for the good information as it all ways is.
