Hi Ben, Dana and all,
I have been folllowing the log periodic antenna
topic/debate with interest. I can't just sit by any
more. On the subject of logs. I am lucky enough to
have the room, living in the woods so to speak with
10+ acres to try most any antennas. Consequently, I
puchased a KMA Super Six log periodic about 20 months
ago and I have been more than well pleased with it.
The construction is first rate...its been thru a few
freak wind storms with absolutely no damage.(So, I
guess unless it gets sucked out of the ground by a
tornado, I am keeping it! hihi) Expensive,yes...but,
no more than most good hf yagi's. My antenna is
mounted on a 50 ft mast with several other antennas
and it performs extremely well (I work ssb and CW
only, FM is pretty usless in this area).
I was very impressed just how well it worked recent
meteor scatter events...QSO's w/Canada, Old Mexico,the
"left" coast and Northwest stations as well...("Six is
Dead" yeah, I forgot! hummm, could have fooled me!)
The KMA Super Six is a 6M only antenna so I have
others for HF and VHF/UHF...but, if that is the price
I have to pay then so be it!
What I would love to have is one of those Monster
SteppIR's (what a sweet set up that is...) although I
would SETTLE for one of their 3 element yagi's!
One always needs a goal and another antenna to boot!
All that said, I am seriously thing about buying a
Quad Antenna to mount on another mast...any
suggestions?
