Bruce, interesting you should comment on this.

Last evening beginning 0030 UTC, here in southern CA (Los Angeles) we had
single and double hop Es to TX and the east coast.  I worked W5GAI EM10;
W2GFF/4 EM60; K4QI FM06; W4LK EM93; KG5RXF EM64; KG4PAC EM64; KG4PSR EM65;
K5DNL EM15; K4YMQ EM63 all in about 30 mins, and mostly on CW. Where I was,
"below" 50.100 was very busy with CW activity, much more active than above
50.100. It pays to try both, for sure. K4QI, who is 2700 miles from me,
was S9+30-40 dB a few times during this session; made me think there might
have been still another hop out there... 73 de Steve WB2WIK/6

That sure was a lot of fun when 6 opened last night. It's the first
opening I'm aware of since last November/December. The band came and
went about every 20 minutes or so. I listened mostly on 50.125 and
tuned the band every now and then.
It seemed to close here around 0330Z. I worked stations with my FT-817,
a 4 el yagi at 55ft in CM89,CM99,DM34,DM43,DM42 and DM65.  These were
new grids for me. All were done on SSB and no CW was heard. I worked
about 12 stations and of course heard more than that. It seemed that
everyone was having a good time. I was thinking I'd like to run 100
watts on 6. 'til the next opening - 73 Bruce.
