Jerry,

Why do you think the window is not a good idea?

Like I have stated before, 6 meters is self regulating. What do I mean by
self-regulating?

It's secret is in the nature of the band, when six opens up it starts at the
bottom first (50.0) and works it way up, sometimes even getting all the way
up to 145 mhz. But always 50.0 will open before 50.125. I remember hearing
strong beacons but it being crapy at 50.125-135 and nothing at 50.145 or above.

Now I think a better idea would be to open the 50.0 to 50.050 to SSB and CW
and remove the beacons in that area. You will work much more DX domestic and
abroad then the way it is now set up.

Now, before the DX window and channelizing call channels, we had no
FREQUENCY COPS, year before last I heard a guy jump up and down cussing a fellow ham
out because he was calling CQ at 50.120, I heard him take 5 Min. to read the
riot act to this ham all the while nobody else could use 50.120. If there
never had been a DX window this would have never had happen.

I also want to make a comment to the guy down south in EL-96, soon the
summer Es will hit and it will be open a lot. In the mean time visit one of the DX
loggers to see when and where the band is open.

Jerry W9FS
