Those who replace their ham activity with the internet
and cell phones really weren't in amateur radio for
the right reasons anyway, and I don't miss them.  The
analogy I like is fishing.  Look how much time and
money people spend on fishing, while I can go to
Wal-Mart and buy fish that is already cleaned for a
fraction of the cost.  It is the challenge.    I think
we are getting plenty of new hams, but we need to
Elmer them off limiting themselves to 2 meter FM.  If
I was only running 2 meter FM I would quickly find a
more exciting hobby, like collecting dust particles or
something.
