When 6 SSB is open, fm may not be. The band cuts off before the
opening reaches 52. m.

Not really, save a little more money and get a radio with ssb and if
you might want to get more Freqs. as the Yaesu 100D or some othe Brand
Radio.

Guys,
How much real DX opportunity exists on FM? I've become interested
in the Yaesu FT8900 quad band mobile - would it be useful for
anything on 6 other than local repeaters? Does anyone have any
experience with the 8900? Either as a mobile or a base? What about
antenna options?
Thanks!
Trent
