Actually, if you're putting up a wire antenna (as opposed to a rigid dipole
made of tubing), I'd go for something more omnidirectional if possible, like
a loop. That requires more than just two end supports, but if you can
string it up, a 1-WL loop is only 20 feet in perimeter and needn't be round
(nor square) -- it can be almost any geometric shape from a triangle to a
square to a pentagon, hexagon, octagon -- whatever you can manage, and will
have about 0dBd gain in all directions, or at least in "many" directions,
rather than two. A rigid loop can also be made (like a "halo"), or a
turnstile may be made of two rigid cris-crossed dipoles. If you have only
one high support but many possible "lower" end supports, you might consider
an arrangement of multiple wire slopers fed in phase. All sorts of
possibilities, if you have time, space and a bit of ingenuity....-WB2WIK/6
