Problem with a six meter dipole is that it's bidirectional, and per Murphy's
Law, will always be aimed where stations aren't. A lower, rotary dipole is
much handier. A six meter antenna needs to be sufficiently high to have a
good view of a distant horizon; however high that is, depends on your
particular location and the obstacles you have nearby. In my neighborhood
(single story homes, nothing industrial, no tall buildings, and few tall
trees), getting a 6m dipole up about 30-40' above ground would be quite
adequate. In places with lots of 60' tall trees, I'd want the antenna to be
above them, so as to not suffer so much foliage attenuation, which can be
pretty severe at 50 MHz. -WB2WIK/6
