Actually I was a bit excited when I heard all those strange noises and I did
call CQ about every 5 minutes for a half hour.Unfortunately my 3 watts
didn't make it very far(hihi.

It could be noise from PCs or TVs........OR if you have a channel 2 xmtr 
in town......hard to tell...no band is dead quiet...and 6 is full of 
birdies...50Mhz range is a popular one for oscillators in microprocessor 
controlled equipment!

(birdies dont move and may go away but will return on that freq again; 
once you hear them more than once, you can start to figure it out 
quickly...always listen in the beacon band to see if the band is 
opened...thats your safest bet....AND get on 125 and call CQ :)
