With that description I'd start with turning off all near by monitors. Might
unplug high power wall warts (printers, etc..)

Any chance of a recording of it? I'm trying to brush up on my skills of
6m RFI.

Oh, any electric fences or buried (pet) fences around? And do you hear it
anywhere other than 6m? AM bc band? 20m? 2m?

Noticed any correlation between when it's quite and when it's wet outside?

Subject: [SixClub] Noise

Hi folks!

For some time now I have been listening to noise in
the 6 meter band. The noise is similar to a 60 Hz
sound with a buzzing quality. Sometimes is weak and
some times is S9. If I scan the band, it is not
constant; It is stronger in certain frequencies and
non existent in others. It sometimes get into my RPT
input frequency (51.120) and these days is very near
the output (TX FRQ 51.620, noise 51.115). The sound is
very similar to those radios that receive TV
frequencies when tuned to the video portion of the
channel.

Any ideas, anyone, could it be BPL tests?
