[SixClub] FCC proposal on BPL! There goes the bands!

Guys!

Read between the lines. Politics. Let the power companies go down the
road, install BPL, spend a fortune on it, and then have the Department of
HomeLand Security, DOD, FEMA, etc. going to Federal Court and getting "cease
and desist" orders over the interference.

How far to you think BPL is going in Washington DC??? Or next to a US
Military Base?

Not to mention the havoc when a licensed ham operator knocks out a section
of BPL that serves as a backbone to 50 or a hundred homes and businesses,
and the power company has to admit to the newspaper that the law says they
have to avoid interfering with the licensed services.

Sure, they will show up on the Ham's front lawn, with the camera's rolling,
and I just hope that whoever it happens to will be able to comunicate to the
public that the power companies knew it was a problem, the regulations
spelled it out and the Power Company sold the public, their BPL service
subscribers, a service that they knew would be overrun with problems.

All to line the power company's pocketbook. The public does not like or
trust the Power Company. At least not around here...

Hey, I thought the power grid was old, unreliable and outdated. Now they
want to make it the super data hwy!

Six Meters....

Each Saturday 15:00 - 16:00 is "Random Hour" in North America for making
meteor scatter contacts using FSK441 on 50.260MHz. If you don't do WSJT
yet, tune up there and listen for the meteor scatter pings / burns. I
still need 4 contacts to qualify for the RQA (Random QSO Award) so give
me a call.
