[SixClub] 6mtr. AM Repeater??

Some of early rptrs were AM!!	I don't know of any AM rptrs currently in
operation...but myself and KE5O have been toying with the idea of a dual
mode rptr....AM or FM in, AM and FM out! Of course, the rptr MUST use freqs
within the 51-54 Mhz range....a rptr cannot operate inputs or outputs below
51.0 MHz in the US...AMing a GE MASTRII or similar xmtr can be done (carrier
power must be reduced to prevent blowing the xstrs!) Adding a AM IF strip to
a FM radio is not too hard..but of course with AM you lose the FM quality of
reception....(even though AM is a better weak signal mode, once you get past
the threshold, FM is the superior mode for noise suppression, etc...this is
why it overtook Land Mobile use in the 40s and 50)

A rptr can be of any mode.....it just has its own unique "problems"
associated with that mode...but an AM rptr is doable..
