Hi Fred and All --

Thanks for the info. Your work on compiling
current S/1 data is great.

I have gone through th4 Signal One repainting
experience ad nauseum. In order to create the
original epoxy finish it is necessary to obtain
materials from the industrial distributor of a paint
supplier. I used Sherwin Williams. The epoxy paint
requires three solutions: enamel, hardener and a
third which is basically for thinning. This paint is
to be applied with texture -- a spray technique that
is beyond an amateur like myself. Since the S/1 case
is aluminum it requires a primer be applied before the
enamel. The correct primer is also an epoxy recipe,
and uses two solutions. This, at least, is easy to
apply. When I did this work I applied a varathane
clear coat to help ensure I would not have to go
through tall this again. The results are stunning.

A fall back approach might be to use the paint
you have specified with aluminum primer (which can be
purchased at any Ace hardware store). Without an
aluminum primer the paint will flake off. This primer
has the advantage of being rather thick, so there may
be some hassles in using it.

I have plenty of all the above solutions,
together with the receipts detailing items. And yes,
the paint distributor matched the paint color to one
of my CX7 boxes.

I have obtained CX7 boxes that were supposed to
have been refinished but where primer and/or texture
was not included -- the results were not ok.

Please don't take any of this as being critical
-- I just wanted to pass along my experience.

               Dave/ AB7B
