Folks
As our Signal/Ones get older, parts break and there are no available
replacements, aside from parts radios. One part that seems to fail
easily (I have two radios with the part gone) is the choke in the output
circut of the PA. Most commonly they short the windings and burn out.
A list member (who had the same problem) suggested that we get the choke
characterized so that if we ever had the chance, we could duplicate it.
I posed this problem to a friend and co-worker, Dave Green W7NE. He
graciously took the time to characterize the choke and documented the
results.
I have posted Dave's report on the web site
http://www.hamanuals.com
Go to the Signal/One link, then the CX7 link. It's under the
documentation section and is flagged as NEW. Enjoy reading it, it's 28
pages long! If you have any questions, I'm sure Dave would be happy to
answer them.
