I need some input and help with some problems I am having with my
CX11A. As I received it, the -15V regulator was bad. After replacing
it, I still had excessive current draw from the +15 and -15V supplies.
I tracked that down to a bad cap on the mother board. The display came
back to life, but was locked at XX.900 on both VFO's. The +15v line
still seemed to have excessive current draw. By the process of
elimination, I found that by removing the ALC board, the current draw
returned to about normal and the VFO's would tune.. However, the A vfo
will not "lock".. it seems to run up and down about 2kc and will not
stabilize. The B VFO will lock and works fine..
The fellow that originally had this radio used it on FSK.. I found that
by turning the FSK knob the B vfo would also unlock. There is a plug
with 2 wires installed in the top ACC jack on the back of the radio.
Removing this makes no difference. Is there something that has been
modified for FSK that can be causing this?
Any thoughts on how to get the A vfo to stabilize? Any thoughts about
why the ALC board would draw excessive current? On the receive mode
should the "finals "show some current draw or are they supposed to be
cut off completely?
I have cleaned all the switches and ribbon connector plus.. reseated all
the boards.. I need to get this VFO problem solved before I go any
further on the radio.
Please give me some food for thought//
Thanks
