[SignalOne] Signal One 1030C Question?

Hi,

I was somewhat dissapointed when I got a CX-11 for the first time on my work bench. Only differently sized modules mixed up on the chassis - not really a perfect ingeneering solution. My Milspec 1030 (not ICOM) is much better in this aspect. But only if you have the version with the milled frame on the receiver pcb. Anyway my rig had a A24 module (original delivery!) homebrew in a case made of pcb material with a circuitry completely different to the manual. I rebuilt it on a professional pcb, screwed into a milled and anodized case and mounted it at the correct position. With my extra module - also in a milled case - upon the receiver compartement containing receiver highpass filters to suppress strong second order intermodulation products on the higer bands and the addition of an audio low pass filter the transceiver at least behaves like an old Daimler. But sideband noise of the synthesizer, quality of the reference oscillator and the manual only have Fiat 500 standard ..!

Milspec radios built like a Rolls-Royce???? Clearly, Fred, you have never seen the insides of a Roller. Milspec radios - at least the one I have - don't even measure up to a Volkswagen Beetle or a home-spun K2 as far as quality is concerned.
