Yes, please scan in info on the CX7 and CX7A.
I've been corresponding with Lorne and Alejandro on parts for the CX7A.
I'll hold off on working on it until I have the documentation.
Although it should not be that hard to restore the CX7A, it involves
rewiring the high voltage. This is one of those, get it right the first
time, things.
I have several other projects including getting a new job. I was
slammed by the recession or whatever it is that's been going on for the
last few years.
Don't know if I mentioned this before but I had a hand surgery go bad
about 2 years ago. My doc (who was terrified that I'd sue him.) told
me to work my fingers or I could permanently lose mobility in my
fingers.
Rather than go to Physical Therapy, I started refurbing my old Heathkit
SB-303. The effort of the delicate close work, polishing the knobs,
and twisting screwdrivers helped a lot. Use it or lose it. No pain, no
gain. Polish the grime out of the grooves in a knob, that defines
hand pain.
Since the surgery, I got my SB-303 fixed up, been in several other
Heath's, fixed my IC-720A "clacker", and started on the CX7A. I still
have some stiffness and pain in the hand but big whoop, as long as I
can pick up an Ungar and tack solder wires to the bottom of an SB-303,
I've no complaints.
I hope to have the CX7A on the air a year from now, well, maybe two
years. As I said, no rush. The point is to restore the radio. This
isn't a race.
Every time I open the CX7A or any other radio, I learn something new.
I'm looking forward to the documentation updates to the Web Site.
