Digital radio may not mean the end of shortwave radio at all, rather the op=
posite. That is, if the Digital Radio Mondiale people have their way and th=
e BPL (PLC) band don't mess it up.

Once mass produced DRM radio receivers (preferably with DAB capability thow=
n in)  come down in price to the consumer level, then shortwave will experi=
ence a huge revival.
