High Wind Warning
Statement as of 3:35 PM PDT on April 26, 2010

...High Wind Warning in effect from 2 am to 5 PM PDT Tuesday...

The National Weather Service in Reno has issued a High Wind
Warning...which is in effect from 2 am to 5 PM PDT Tuesday. The
high wind watch is no longer in effect.

* Timing: winds will increase late tonight...with the strongest
   gusts Tuesday morning through early afternoon. The winds will
   diminish during Tuesday evening.

* Winds: south to southwest 25 to 40 mph with peak gusts 60 to 70
   mph in lower elevations. Locally stronger gusts over 75 mph in
   wind prone areas and foothills west of Reno and Carson City.

* Impacts: travel will become hazardous for drivers of high
   profile vehicles...especially along Highway 395 and Interstate
   80.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Damage to trees...power lines and property is possible with winds
of this magnitude. Take steps to secure loose outdoor items.
Motorists should use extra caution and remain alert for sudden
gusts or cross winds.
