Good day to all

Last year I spent a day in Reno at EmCommWest 2003. Best I could =
determine it was a relatively new venture but was pretty well attended =
and there was some good communications information. That info was =
directed to Emergency backup but, nevertheless, had application to good =
things like bike rides, road races and so on. It also seemed to be an =
almost last minute thing - maybe that's because I didn't catch on to it =
until the last minute. Don't know for sure, and doesn't make much =
difference.

EmCommWest 2004 is already well into the advanced planning stages. The =
scheduled date is the weekend of May 22. SIERA has our monthly =
breakfast scheduled for that day, so maybe some of us can consider =
pooling resources to pony from Gardnerville to Reno. I really do think =
the venture will prove productive and fun.

SIERA has agreed to do the event signing. This means we'll have =
responsibility for signing after getting off the 395 to the school =
parking and, interior, signs showing where the various sessions will be. =

This project is big time and there will hams there from CA, the =
Northwest, Utah and CO, as well as from "home". In other words it's a =
mini-Pacificon. Further, RAMS will hold their hamfest that weekend and =
at the site. The RAMS hamfest is, arguably, the largest and best =
hamfest in Northern Nevada.

We discussed this project at our last monthly meeting and, while I =
didn't get much of a response, neither did I get any hint of a negative. =
Taking that to be positive and that you would rely on me to make a =
decision, I have done so.

SIERA has agreed to make and place the signs for the event. Do I hear =
any volunteers out there to help with this project?

How many of our club will consider the trip to Reno to participate in =
this worthwhile event?

Take a look at http://www.emcommwest.org<http://www.emcommwest.org/> to =
get a better picture and, if you will, go back to that site every few =
days. It'll be updated on a regular basis, giving you the real skinny =
on what's up.

In the meantime, let me know your interest in working on and =
participating in this adventure.
