I join the amateur radio community in mourning the loss of Don.
I met him in 1982 at Dayton,  (I remember it was in a crowded  elevator at the Crown Plaza, he recognized my call sign (KP4AM) and said "So, KP4AM is for real!" -- This happened  3 years after my DXpedition to Desecheo Island --KP4AM/D,)  Thereafter we became friends. After that, every Saturday night, we would meet at the Spaghetti Warehouse for dinner with other friends, like W4DTA, KC4C, K1RG, WP3A, KP4AOC  and,  of course, Hope. He loved our hobby, and both worked for pay and later volunteered to help us.  At hamfests and Club meetings he always greeted me with a smile  and a handshake.  I regret that I couldn't visit him at the hospital and hospice. 
Now my prayers are for Hope.  God bless her.
