Hi Eric,

Yes this has happened before to me and other members of SFDXA. 

It is amazing what scammers will do.  It is a pretty simple task to take down the email addresses of members and create these ridiculous scamming emails.

At the October Directors’ meeting, we all discussed removing the emails from the info page on the SFDXA website.  The conclusion was that having the emails available on the site was more advantageous than detrimental.

If in the future, you or anyone else receives and email that looks suspicious at all, always look at the properties of the email to see where it actually came from.

For future reference, I (and most certainly, any other SFDXA member) will never send an email asking for anyone to purchase gift cards.  The gift card thing is one of the oldest tricks in the scammers book!

Thanks for letting me know that this is still going on.  I will forward this as well to the SFDXA reflector as a reminder to our membership.

I received an email I thought was from you, till I got a resonance back this morning from him and now realize this is a scammer and he is using your identity as president of the SFDXA. 

See below, the email 1st response from this scammer and my reply back thinking it was you. I have to wonder if others in the club received similar emails? 
I will let you handle this issue with the club membership.
