Oh, And I wasn't beating up on Pete, or defending CB'ers. Just making a
point that back 30-40 years ago, 11 meter people were a class act and asset
to the community. Even though it was a no test license, there were a lot of
good people, enforced by the FCC and the CB community. Look what it turned
into. It just seems to me that amateur radio is headed in the same
direction.

I wish these guys well and hope all turns out OK, even if I never get to
work them. I tune in and get disgusted with the behavior and go elsewhere.
Pete was beating up 11 meter people, but some of these Hams are just as bad,
if not worse. One of the first rules in DX is to listen, but people still
just shout out without listening for the call and the split. And I will
never understand why it takes more than a couple of seconds to tune an amp
you are familiar with. I always go to my marks and am fine tuned by the time
I make my call.

It is my opinion that the question pool does not cover enough on actual
operation.

*VP8STI ONLINE LOG* <http://www.clublog.org/charts/?c=VP8STI>

*
January 24* - Since early this morning, we have been experiencing blizzard
like conditions with strong winds and heavy snow fall. Some of our antennas
have become damaged by the high winds and the snow fall is making access to
them very difficult. It is also increasingly difficult to re-fuel our
generators.

Our biggest concern is our four tents, one of which has already been damaged
by the high winds. We are in VHF communications with the Braveheart and we
are discussing contingency plans to abort or shorten the DXpedition if
safety requires.

The Braveheart is unable to maintain their anchor position and is moving out
to sea. We are currently active on three stations however we are becoming
increasingly less confident that we can maintain this activity.
Please know that we are doing our best under extreme circumstances to make
contacts with the global DX Community. This DXpedition has thoroughly tested
each member physically, mentally and spiritually. We pray for a safe return.

We hope that we can continue however we feel the need to inform you that our
activity may abruptly come to an end in the name of safety of our team and
the crew of the Braveheart.

Best wishes from the Intrepid-DX Group VP8STI Team.
