Interesting information on Transmitters Dirty Signals...a topic
discussed on another reflector.
Comments:
It's far from true that "a transmitter is a transmitter". There is a
"huge" difference in transmitted noise among radios.
There is been tremendous focus on improved receiver performance over the
past years and now, in my opinion, we have gotten to the point where the
marginal benefit is minimal unless and until we clean up the all the
dirty transmitters out there.
It doesn't matter how good our receiver there's a dirty signal in our
passband!
We need to focus on our transmitted signals as well, and encourage
manufactures to build better transmitters, so we can all benefit.
The K3 is one of the cleanest, and the Yaesu rigs are among the worst.
The Kenwood's are not far behind the K3 and the Icom's tend to fall
somewhere between Kenwood and Yaesu, but much cleaner than Yaesu.
