Interesting proposition about the Artificial aurora. Boulder used large NVIS
arrays at 6 MHz to create an artificial 'aurora' for receiving TV signals from
Mexico into the US. When the power was turned off, it took approximately 90
seconds I believe to lose the VHF link (recombination). First the video
disappeared and then the audio. QST had a good article with pix on the
Platts(burg?) heater.

Bill,
If this actually happens we might see a ham-created aurora between the US, EU
and P5.
