[SFDXA] RECAP re: Reminder: SFDXA meeting tonight, with live Ham Jeopardy game

Trivia note: "100 watts E.R.P." means 100 watts supplied to an antenna with
dipole gain. For future jeopardy challenges, Motorola got that one past the FCC
a long time ago. Everyone else on the planet uses "EIRP" = effective radiated
power relative to isotropic radiation. You see, this allows 160 watts EIRP.
That is, 160 watts into a 0 dBi antenna. Pretty slick, eh?
For the next jeopardy (or trivia) super challenge: The same FCC rule change
does allow digital modes, but note that the emission designators have the
familiar "J" (for suppressed carrier SSB) in them like J1B for ham-RTTY, rather
than the international accepted emission designators like F1B. This was a
legislative trick that FCC and NTIA used to get around their own rules which
designated those channels in the USA for SSB voice, then diverted to digital use
while retaining the suppressed carrier notation. Ain't the FCC/NTIA slick?
Watch for the details in November 2012 QST.
